This colourful assemblage gets its title from the dominant Red Hot Poker flowers as well as the wooden toys at the bottom of the box. The Matisse Picasso references the Matisse-like monoprint on the vase and the subtle Picasso-like figure sitting in the upper right corner of the painting.
