Magnolia Sweep

This piece is inspired by nature. The focus is a branch from a Star Magnolia tree, placed in a vase I made many years ago in the studio of Susan Collett, a noted ceramic artist. Other natural objects include a bone, a leaf and 2 poison ivy sticks. The sticks form an X and a Y – recurring elements in my work. The section of ball connects the colour in the oil painting and in the photograph.
