This duo incorporates many themes from previous work. The painting on the left was part of a series where I used elements from my painting and photographic past. The idea being that I wanted to create a surface tension, where the removal of any element would leave a “hole” in the composition. I have balanced that idea in the oil painting on the right side where colour is the important evoker of feeling, in this case, upbeat.
